For the places a strip will not fit.
A 21 inch reflective hanging disc. It moves, it flashes, and it makes an open area feel unsafe to land in.
Some places take a spike strip badly: a soffit vent, an open porch, the middle of a yard, the mouth of a barn. There is no ledge to fix to.
A hanging disc works differently. It turns, it catches the light, and it makes an area feel unpredictable enough that birds go somewhere else.

Where should I hang them?
Open areas with some air movement: under a soffit, in a porch, at a barn opening, over a bed or a yard. A still, enclosed corner is the worst place for one.
How many do I need?
More than one. A single disc over a large area does very little. Space several across the space you are protecting.
Do birds get used to them?
Yes, in time. Anything that works by unfamiliarity does. Moving them every few weeks resets most of that.
How big are they?

How do they hang?

Will they work indoors?
Partly. They need light to reflect and air to turn, so a bright open barn is fine and a dark shed is not.

Less reliably than on smaller birds. Gulls are bold, and a roof edge is better handled with a strip.
Can I paint them?

Do they tangle?
They can on a long line in a strong wind. Hang them short.
Will they scare bees or butterflies?

Hang several, not one
A single disc over a large space does very little. Space them out so that most
of the area has one within sight.
Air and light
They turn in moving air and they work by reflecting light. A bright, breezy spot
is where they earn their keep. A still, dark corner is where they do nothing.
Move them every few weeks
Anything that works because it is unfamiliar becomes familiar. Repositioning
resets most of it, and it costs nothing.
Pair them with a strip
Discs do nothing at night, when birds are roosting. If the roosting is on a
ledge, put a strip on the ledge and hang discs over the open ground. The two
